PR, ECO and IDB discuss possibility of financing infrastructure projects

Pakistan Railways, Economic Cooperation Organisation and Islamic Development Bank, at a meeting in Islamabad today, discussed possibility of financing infrastructure projects along the Pakistani section of Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul railway route.

One of the proposed projects is the restoration and upgradation of 612 kilometer Quetta-Taftan Railway Track.

Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafiq said the initiative can open a new era for Pakistan Railways as Quetta Taftan is an important section.

Meanwhile, ameeting between officials of Ministries of Railways of Pakistan and China was held in Islamabad today to review the plan for upgradation of ML-I.

Railways Minister Khwaja Saad Rafique and Railways Minister of China Li Xuedoung led their sides in the discussions.

On the occasion Saad Rafique said ML-I project will generate employment and speed up development in the Country.

Li Xuedoung said ML-I up-gradation plan joining Peshawar to Karachi formed a significant part of CPEC's improvement .

He said it will benefit people especially along the route and contribute to economic and social development of Pakistan.
